If you like to look at great quilts go to the quilters blogger festival site and visit all the quilty goodness.
There are lots of links to some really talented quilters, so check it out and support them. :-)
The quilt I'm posting about was made right after hurricane Irene came thru last year. I thought of it because of Sandy coming thru. It is done with fusible appliqué, then quilted down with different colors of thread.
I sold it but if I remember the size was about 28" by 18" or so.
This is the photo I used to make the quilt - the bartonsville covered bridge stood strong since 1805
And this is what was left after Irene. You may remember the video of the bridge falling into the river. It was all over the news and was truly a great loss.
Stay safe...it is so weird to see the NE having a hurricane and not us.

Oh, that is so sad!! I'm glad you made a great quilt of this bridge.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt - it's too bad the bridge didn't make it but it's so nice that it's commemorated in such a beautiful way!
ReplyDeleteStay safe and dry!
It's a shame about the bridge, and I'm so glad that some where out there is a true piece of art work of it.
ReplyDeleteTruly a loss. I remember the stories regarding the damage to bridges and homes where we used to live including our old house. Just so hard to imagine.
ReplyDeleteYou do wonderful work.
Wonderful quilt. So sorry your inspiration has been destroyed! Thanks for sharing and have a great day

ReplyDeleteWhat a loss... I'm glad you caught it in fabric!
ReplyDeleteWonderful quilt, and the tie in to the story of the bridge was so touching. I love how we can use our art to inspire, remember, and make us think all at the same time. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLa trapunta è stupenda ed è un vero peccato che il ponte sia andato distrutto
ReplyDeleteCiao
So sad that the bridge was lost. You did a wonderful job creating it in fabric!
